THE MIRACLE OF INTERACTION WITH HORSES ...
We at HEARTLAND HORSES AND HANDICAPPED, INC try to help people improve motor skills, posture, balance, coordination, and strength. We help them stretch tight muscles and expand their minds. By grooming, stroking, and riding our wonderful horses, they reach, pull, turn, push, bend, and lift. There is a less obivous side to HHH. Many of our riders are confined to wheelchairs or are dependent on walkers. Their bodies and minds sometimes tell them they can't do something, but when they are on the back of a horse ... They discover that they can achieve the very things they thought were impossible. There is a bond that develops between the riders, horses, and volunteers... A bond of LOVE... A bond of TRUST... A bond of CARING.. And there are miracles too, the interaction that gives our participants... o Confidence... o Dignity... o Mobility... o and Self-Esteem!! |
